Climate Education is available to any school or educational establishment based in the UK.

How much does it cost?

That depends on whether you are a single school, are looking to sign up a multi-academy trust, or multiple schools at once. See our Subscriptions page for further details.

What is the level of commitment of Climate Education?

By signing up to Climate Education you are committing to make long term sustainable changes within your school and community. You will be expected to complete our action planning tool to show how your school will make this a reality and to monitor the impact of the work you are completing.

Why does Climate Education matter?

By joining Climate Education you are informing your students, staff, governors and local community that climate change matters and that everyone needs to play their part in living a more sustainable lifestyle.

What support can I expect?

Once you become a member you will have access to your own dashboard area where you will be able to engage with lesson plans and resources specifically designed for schools. There is also a yearly calendar to help you plan for national and international events and dates, funding updates, as well as links to the most up to date polices, procedures and research.

How do I deliver Climate Education?

Climate Education isn’t an additional thing for schools to deliver, but it is a way to support schools in becoming more sustainable. We understand that curriculum time is hard to find, so this is a way to reassess the norm and look at the way your school is run to make sustainable changes. It can be used to enhance learning, adjust teaching practices and support student leadership opportunities.

How do I get leadership involved?

Climate Education supports schools to be able to meet their requirement to have a sustainability action plan in place as part of the DfE’s Sustainability & Climate Change Strategy. We know that sustainability changes are not being consistently implemented in schools because it can sometimes become the role of a particular teacher. By creating an action plan which can be shared and used as part of your school improvement plan will ensure that these vital changes are embraced by the whole school, inspiring both small and large scale changes/projects.

What is an action plan and do I need one?

The Climate Education action plan tool will help your school to focus on and achieve the sustainability changes you want to make. By having this is place you are also meeting the requirement for schools to have this in place as detailed in The Sustainability & Climate Change in Education Strategy.

How will my school information be used?

Climate Education will use the information entered in the action plan to build a picture of the types of actions schools are taking and the impact this is having. This can then be used to inform what further support we could offer for schools and other communities.

Your contact details will be used in accordance with GDPR to keep you up to date with news and developing information relevant to your Climate Education sustainability journey. Your information will not be shared, sold or swapped with any other organisations for any marketing purposes.

When signing up as multiple schools you are giving permission for your information to be shared as part of this school network.

Who runs Climate Education?

Climate Education is part of PECT, an environment charity creating sustainable places.
