- [RFS Junior Forester Award (6 Week Course)](https://www.climateeducation.co.uk/product/junior-forester-award/) - The RFS Junior Forester Award gives young people confidence and insight into a career in forestry as well as the practical ability to assist in woodland management in their schools and local communities. The delivery is aimed at students from years 6 and 7 with a particular focus on those who will struggle to transition between primary and secondary school. Making the move from Year 6 to Year 7 is an exciting time, but for lots of students it can also be a time of anxiety as they are faced with a new school environment, new teachers and new friends and peer groups. Learning about change and how to cope with it, will help with this transition as well as prepare them for many other changes and challenges they may face in life. Participants will learn be required to work in teams, improve their communication skills and build resilience. What's Included? The course takes place for an hour and a half each week over six weeks, in groups of no more than 15 students, enabling them to be involved in with and learn about their woodland space, including tree planting and/or maintenance, biodiversity, habitats, and related woodland management. All equipment and resources will be provided, and each participant is provided with their own Junior Forester Award Handbook to enable them to record their experiences and, following successful completion of the course, a Junior Forester Certificate and badge. All sessions will include practical tasks to develop knowledge and green skills, giving an insight into a career in Forestry.
